Carolyn's VERY ROUGH DRAFT - Fanfiction

This is a Cinderella story - a caucasion girl in an East Asian world.  I DO NOT want to start any controversy/racism - it was just an idea or look at things, so I was trying to be broad and non specific with the racial aspects.  It isn't finished, and very outlined at the moment, but just to give you an idea.

Once in a not so long ago time lived a father and his beloved daughter of 18, Ella.  While they were quite happy together the father had been lonely ever since his wife had died years before.

One day he came across a woman, a beautiful, elegant, woman; one that had come from a far country.  She treated him differently than the women of his country.  She treated him as a king, doing anything and everything he asked of her, with a loving smile on her face in addition.  Because of her devotion, he felt obligated to move with his daughter to his new wife’s home country when she was homesick and begged him to; to return to her own two daughters.

Ella was in awe of this new country.  The people were all elegant, beautiful, and courteous.  They all have striking, beautiful raven hair and deep chocolate eyes.  The food was unusual as were the customs, but she was nothing but curious in this new place.

However, the new climate was not compatible with Ella’s father and he soon grew ill and died.

Now before his corpse was cold, her new mother and sisters showed their true feelings for Ella.  As courteous as these people were, her new sisters, Xcey and Katam, were wretched.  They would pull her hair, tear her clothing and possessions, and curse at her in their native language.  Their mother of course was no different.  She laughed in Ella’s face, confessing this was her plan, that now she had the money and no man to wait on and could use Ella as her slave.  In truth Ella’s new family hated and feared their differences.  Ella’s striking blue eyes, golden hair, and forward manner unnerved them.  She was often stared at in the streets.  Desired by many men; hated by many women in fear of her stealing their men.

Ella soon grew depressed and weary.  She was far from home, knew no one other than her new family who treated her awfully, missed eating familiar food, and also could not speak to many people since they did not understand her language.  While it was customary in this country to be polite and courteous, she soon learned they were often saying cruel and plotting when in private.  She was weary of this behaviour.  Guessing and untrusting of every people she came across.  She only had her endless work from her mother as a way of escape.  She would drift in her thoughts, sometimes thing of cruel things herself, but often was just numb to the world around her.

This country was to have their annual mascaraed festival and was in preparation for months.  A rumour stated the country’s emperor was to be there which made the young women of the country flit about in excitement.  He had recently come of age and needed to choose his bride.  They all wished to be it since he was elegant, handsome, and of course the emperor.

  1. Interesting take on the Cinderella story. It's been a long time since I saw the old disney movie, but this sounds fairly interesting.
Your writing style is clear and easy to read as well.

Looking forward to reading the final product.

  2. "Clear and easy to read" - not very good. Haha, I'm going to change it a bit...but yea, as I said it's very broad (mostly to stay in the 1000 word limit).
